Falling All 'Olive' You Dress

Yesterday I was feeling a little inspired. For awhile I thought I was getting sick but after a cup of tea, I started to feel better and I knew I could not waste such inspiration.

I finally started organising my room and it looks ten times better now than before.

But now I have a ton of fabric that I have to use because it's taking up so much space!

I knew exactly which fabric I wanted to use.

It was an olive print fabric that I bought months ago in hopes to make a dress to wear to work

I got it out of the bag, and laid it out.

I was very upset when I realised that the lady had cut my fabric crooked. So that was at least two inches gone from the dress. At this point, I had given up any hope of wearing this dress to work.

I used this pattern to make the dress. It actually is very easy to follow!

I know this is ghetto but I've said before, I don't own paper weights.

2 points for being innovative!

Once I cut out the fabric with the pattern, I was able to piece them together on my mannequin.

This is what the top was looking like.

I put pins in the side and started stitching.

So when I was finished with that, I got the bottom back. I pinned those pieces in place, and stitched.

It ended up looking like this:

(Oh hi Rukia! She wouldn't move out of my shot)

Once I added the front pieces and stitched the back close, it was now time to add the zip in the front.

I used a 14 inch zip.

Here it is shown simply pinned in place:

Once everything lined up, I stitched.

I cleaned it up by hemming the neckline, armpit and the bottom and I was done!

Here is the finished product!!!

And here it is belted!

And to think I finished this in one night!

There were a few times when I wanted to give up. There were a few times when I wanted to set fire to the darn thing. But I stuck with it and I pushed through.

I even wore the dress today when I went to help out at my church fair:

I kept the belt, and paired it with my leopard flats and my white thrifted handbag.

What do you think?

Send in your comments, I'd love to read them!

Until then, Stay fashionable!
