My Experience as a Fash | Art Contestant

This is my first post since Fash | Art.I have no idea how to describe that experience. It was stressful. I cried many days, threw tantrums, even quit at one point.I can never get the money that I spent on fabric, bias tape and thread back.I've even lost some friends along the way, more over things that weren't said and done. It's left me feeling unsure about my future.

Afterall, I'm currently studying for my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, yet I'm pursuing Fashion Design.Fash | Art has left me changed, confused, but better.Because I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.

I've met a lot of new people, new people I hope I can count on in the future. It has shown me my strengths, my weaknesses, and who really has my back when the going gets tough and in times of triumph. I know this post is getting really dark and sappy, but I knew I had to share this. It's not easy opening up about moments in my life like this, which is why it's taken me so long to write this.

I wish I could say that I enjoyed every moment of it.That if ten years down the road I got the call to do an All-Star edition, I would jump at the opportunity. I thought I would never want to touch my sewing machine again.

But yesterday, I did. I sewed. A skirt. It looks beautiful and when I'm feeling better (coming down with a cold/flu again) I'll make a top to go with it.Fash | Art has made me a better designer. And hopefully in the near future, a better seamstress too.(People seem to fail to realise that there is a difference between designing and actually making the finished product).

I didn't get any newspaper interviews so this is the only way for me to tell my story. After the cameras turn off and the high dies down, this is all that's left.

Do you push on? Or get forgotten with the hype?
