Ways to Wear: 9 Style Tips To Conceal "Problem Areas"

Am I the only one who can lose and gain weight by doing virtually nothing? But when I actively try to lose weight my body does the exact opposite? Come on ladies, I know I'm not alone on this! Sometimes it's annoying when people tell me I don't need to lose weight. They look at me and think I look so tiny but trust me people, clothing hides a lot! Especially if you know how to dress to hide your "problem areas". So if anything, it means I'm pretty good at fooling pepole into thinking I'm supermodel thin! And if you want to learn how to do that, here are some quick style tips!

  1. A bigger chest

  • While I don't have this problem (thanks genetics), I sympathise with my smaller chested friends out there. But fear not, there are simple solutions that don't involve expensive, painful miracle push-up bras. Ruffles! I'm not saying go crazy with the ruffles. Keep a balance. You want chic, not cute. So give yourself a boost with elegant ruffles on top or a cowl neckline!

2. A flatter stomach

  • I think this has to be every woman's problem area. It's most definitely mine. Yesterday I was shocked to find that my waist is a 31. Really? What's hiding in there?! Luckily there are easy fixes that don't involve constricting girdles. (Why are most beauty fixes painful?) I've noticed that I get a lot of compliments when I wear a particular wrap dress. That's because wrap dresses accentuate the smallest part of the waist, and the draped fabric helps conceal the stomach. Extra style tip: While, I'm glad the trend has finally died out, peplums are also good at making a woman's waist look tinier.

3. Longer legs

  • I know, I know. You're not short, you're fun sized. I totally get you! Experts say monochrome from head to toe is the way to go if you want to give your legs a longer slimmer look. But the look only works if your pants cover your ankles, have a slim fit at the base, and you compliment it with a pair of heels. The added height will definitely have people asking, "Hey baby, how high do those legs go up?"

4. Smaller hips

  • While my culture prevents me from understanding why a woman would want smaller hips, I accept the right to differ in opinion. Flare jeans is a good way to take the attention off your hips. Even a hip-concealing mid-thigh coat is a good choice when trying to hide your hips.

5. A shorter torso

  • I've stumbled upon this little trick by accident many times. Crop tops and high waisted skirts or shorts are good ways to make your torso look shorter and more proportional to rest of your body.

6. A smaller bust

  • Necklines that create an upside down triangle pull the eye down to a narrower place, thus deemphasizing the bust. Just be sure not to go too low, as this will only highlight the part you’re trying to downplay.

7. A longer torso

  • The same way a high waisted skirt or pants will have the effect of making your torso appear shorter, low-rise pants elongate the torso. Try pairing a crewneck top with a pair of low-rise pants, so your top half looks longer in proportion to your legs. Garments that hit at the hips, such as a tunic, will create the same effect.

8. A bigger butt

  • This is why I love high waisted jeans so much! The top of the jeans fit around the slimmest part of your waist, which in turn makes your waist look smaller and rear look larger in comparison.

9. Thinner arms

  • Three-quarter sleeves, guide the eye to the exposed forearm, skipping over larger upper arms. Extra tip: avoid cap sleeves and sleeveless items, which will draw attention to the largest part of your arm.
