5 Reasons I Can't Wait for Christmas

I absolutely love the Holidays. Any holiday really! There's so much comradery and I love to look at the window displays in the various department stores. There’s so much creative spirit during the holiday times. And as you all know, Christmas is my favourite holiday! Sure it doesn’t get cold here in The Bahamas, and I’ve never seen snow, but that doesn’t stop us from celebrating with good holiday cheer! So here are just some of the many reasons to anticipate the season ahead.

  • The Fashion/Shopping

Reds, whites, tartan oh my! It’s the season for glitz and glam! Whenever the weather drops below 70 degrees, we’re all happy to pull out our sweaters and winter coats. (Looking at this picture is definitely making me want to sew a white tulle skirt.) And let’s not forget the shopping. Sure it’s a mad rush and I may have to mean-mug a few ladies to get a parking spot, but the savings on the sales make it all worth it!

  • The Baking/Cooking

There are some recipes that are only fitting for the Holiday season. For instance, Egg Nog is only sold during the Christmas season. And I LOVE Egg Nog! (Lactose intolerance be damned!)

So during this time, there’s nothing I love more filling the house with the smell of sweets and spices! Bring on the calories!

  • Family Comes to Town

Let’s face it. No one’s family is perfect. But everyone has that cousin, auntie, uncle or whoever who lives in another country/state/island ad the only time we get to see them is during the Holidays. Because we don’t make a big deal of Thanksgiving, for us, that holiday is Christmas.

  • Christmas Carols

Sure after awhile it may get a little annoying, but if only for about two weeks, there’s something magical about the Fa la la la la of Christmas Carols! I especially love when new renditions come out giving it a new sound! P.S. My all time favourite music artist for Christmas Carols is Nat King Cole. Michael Buble is a close second.

  • Christmas Eve Mass

I’m especially excited for Christmas Eve Mass this year because I joined a new church this year. I used to be Catholic but found myself wanting more. I wanted to be in a more open and accepting environment free of judgement and I found that at Potential Church. So I’m super excited for this new experience and can’t wait to tell you all about it!

What’s your favourite season? Are you still hanging onto summer or are you still hungover from Thanksgiving?
