5 Things to Do This Weekend

Hey friends!

Fridays are always a light at the end of the tunnel! I've been enjoying my last week before classes start again by watching Orange is the New Black and Reading White Teeth, so it's safe to say that this week hasn't been difficult and I'm grateful for that. And this weekend is about to be really exciting! There's so much to do here in the Bahamas! Last weekend I went to the IAAF World Relays which was amazing! And this weekend, there are multiple events happening. I'm not sure if I can make all of them, but I can tell you some of what I'll be doing this weekend along with some things you can do if you're not sure where to go.
1. Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival

This is the big one! Everyone's talking about it. Some people are against it for "religious reasons", others are against it for economic and political reasons. But I won't get into that. It's supposed to be a combination of Junkanoo and Soca music for a 3 days celebration of just music, partying and drinking. It officially kicked off last night, and tonight is the big concert night featuring Machel Montano and Baha Men. The Carnical part of it is tomorrow so if you're interested, I suggest you get your tickets from BTC or other participating locations. My attendance is still up in the air because tonight I'm going to....
2. Potluck Dinner with Friends

Nothing brings people (especially Caribbean people) together quite like food. Tonight, instead of going to the Machel Montano concert (as much as it hurts me) I'm going to cook for and dine with my friends from the tech group at church. It feels great to finally enjoy hanging out with the "people from church". I've got a little competition going on with one of them on who can prepare the best dish! Our theme is Italian night, so I'll update you guys soon on how that goes. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram to see all the pretty pictures!
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron

I don't know the premise of this movie and I don't care. It's Marvel, it's superhereos, it's Chris Hemsworth. Enough said. Dad I are going next week when the weather clears up. Moving right along...
4. Mother's Day Anything

I love my mum, and my grandmother. It's times like this that I wish my grandmother still lived here. It's weird, it wasn't until I saw people receiving flowers around the office that I realised that other people have mothers and are mothers. I swear, I had such tunnel vision this holiday season, thinking only of my mother, forgetting that there are other mothers in the world. But don't worry mum, I plan on treating you to something special before we go to church. I won't ruin the surprise, but I hope you're hungry! ( I can talk to her like this because I know she reads my blog).
5. SLEEP

After a full weekend like this, you're gonna need to sleep! So make sure you plan and schedule some time for a little R&R. (Especially if you're a mum yourself).
That's it. What do you have planned for this weekend? I'd love to hear about it. Sound off in the comment section below or underneath the Facebook post! If you're looking for other ways to connect with me, give me a shoutout on Twitter or follow me on Pinterest to see what gets me excited! Enjoy your weekend everyone, but make you get plenty of rest because Monday will be here before you know it!
And if I haven't said it already, Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing mothers out there doing their part and beyond! Being a mom is a 24/7 job that just never stops. I'm 25 and still depend on my mother to find and iron my own clothes! Thanks for putting up with me mum! If it hasn't already (which I'm sure it has because I'm awesome), at some point, it will pay off!
XoX,
Olivia
