As you all know, I made the decision to stop perming my hair after my last one in July of last year. And for those who didn't know, yes I am black! ^.^ (Just playing around).
The decision was not easy. Many days I cried about how unattractive I felt, and worried about how it would affect my chances of finding a guy who didn't think I looked like I've been living in the bush my whole life. Yes it's been a struggle, but throughout this process, I learned more about myself and my values. I also learned more about my culture and how "Western" we've become in what beauty really looks like:
Black women are pretty much only attractive if we have long permed hair (so either grow it out, or weave it up); and if you are going to be natural, hide it under a scarf or some weave because no one wants to see that.
I'm soon going to do the big chop (I really thought I was going to be able to avoid it). I tried to avoid it because I just don't look good with UBER short hair. I've had to cut my hair off before, I sincerely had a nervous breakdown in the salon.
So in order to maintain my hair, I've tried different hair care products and techniques. In the end, it's all just really expensive and confusing.
But this tutorial is so simple, takes little to no time, and only requires 4 materials:
1 empty spray bottle
1/4 100% castor oil
1/4 100% coconut oil
1/4 100% extra virgin olive oil
1/4 water

Combine all ingredients in the spray bottle, then shake to activate.
Apply as a shine spray whenever you need a little extra life and shine in your hair.
All of the products are natural and your hair will love it! Because they're so pure, I wouldn't suggest overdoing it with the application. Just enough that you know you need for your own hair.
When not in use, the oils will separate, so just shake before use.
I hope this helps you all with your natural hair journey and is even good for other hair types.
Until then, Stay Fashionable!
